We're Lucky!

April 7, 2022

Dear Friends and Family,

Did you miss me? It’s been a month since my last “Notes” as March was a tough month for me and so I didn’t write. You’re lucky – I’m back.

Luck. It’s another one of those things that you can see if you look for it — like happiness. I do think it is harder for some people to feel lucky, to feel happy, to relax and let things roll off their shoulders. I’m sure by now you realize that I’m the type of person who has to work hard to be “in the good place” and see the glass half full. Since this is something I’m working on I thought I’d share with you how we’re lucky that we are a part of TADA!.

We’re lucky because:

  • We can watch Wide-awake Jake from anywhere starting tomorrow, April 8th. For those of you who didn’t get to see Wide-awake Jake live in our theater in March, you can watch this fun, talent-filled, new production for only $10 from the comfort of anywhere you like. Just $10 lets as many people who can sit around your screen watch the show through the end of the month.
  • In July, you can come back to the theater to see our next live production, Maggie and the Pirate. Performances take place during the week and we offer very discounted tickets to groups. For more information email Matthew (mkeaton@tadatheater.com).
  • You don’t have to wonder what RYET is doing when there isn’t a production. These talented 8-18 year olds are involved in dance classes, workshops of new musicals, readings of classic musicals, improv classes, acting classes, private voice and monologue work, Job RAP, and the Platform of Peace partnership. It’s all provided totally free to RYET members.
  • You can say “I saw them when.” Some of the current RYET members may be the next Jordan Peele, Kerry Washington, or Ricki Lake (check out her new documentary, The Business of Birth Control). Did you see the recent West Side Story film? Then you saw Ricardo Zayas as Chago. Do you like indie pop bands? Adam and Ryan of AJR are Alum and they have a new musical, Harold and the Purple Crayon, headed for Broadway. Another Alum headed for Broadway is Dea Julien, who will be making her Broadway debut in The Kite Runner.
  • TADA!’s Spring Break week-long camp and Week-long Summer camps are live once again. Register now. These are the best ways to spend a week (or more) in NYC. Kids get to be creative, have fun, meet new people, and build SEL skills all day long. At the end of the week there’s a new show that families get to see!

You can work with TADA!. Currently seeking:
☆ A Director and a Dramaturg who can relate first hand to the immigrant experience for a developmental workshop in May of Common Ground.
☆ Summer production staff: Production Supervisor, Production Stage Manager, and Designers.
☆ Teaching Artists
☆ Board Members

I’m lucky that I have my TADA! family, that I get to create new art, that I get to work with young people and teens, and that I get to work with a great staff who care about young people and theater. Theater as a catalyst for change. It can change people for the better and they in turn can make the world a better place. We’re so lucky to have theater in our lives.

I’m also lucky that I have great friends who I haven’t spent time with in quite a while. I will be reaching out and I hope you will welcome me back into your lives. Let’s go see some theater together.

I hope you enjoy the holidays coming up this month with good friends, family, and good food.

Best,
