Dear Friends and Family, 

I started this a few times and then I would say to myself…yes, I talk to myself – “Hey that would be a good blurb for the Gala journal” or “I might want to use this for the speech I make at the Gala.” I’m excited about celebrating 40 years – it’s going to be a wonderful evening. But I hate speaking in public – it’s more than hate – I get so nervous. I’m not a performer. I love theater – writing, directing, producing…I just don’t like to speak! 

I’m sorry that I missed writing my Note in January. I got sick with the flu in the middle of December and it took me down for a couple of weeks. The new year started and I went back to work in the office for a few days. But then I got weak and collapsed coming out of the shower and hit my head, so EMTs came and I went to the hospital…where I found out I was extremely dehydrated and had COVID. After a few days in the hospital I went home, but I was not myself. It took about 4 weeks for me to really get back to feeling like myself, which is where I am now. 

Our tagline for TADA!’s 40th is: “Inspire To Be…” You figure out what comes next in the sentence. Every show I see inspires me. Yesterday I took the afternoon off (a rarity for me) to see Cabaret. I’ve seen many productions of Cabaret and each one is different from the others. And each time it makes me feel and think so much…but seeing the show now seems even more relevant and scary. It inspires me to pay attention, be brave and strong, and take action. It’s both important to find times to leave your troubles behind and see how life is beautiful. 

Theater can transform your day, your mood, your thoughts, your life.

I hope you can join us on Monday, March 10th, at the Edison Ballroom, to celebrate TADA!’s 40 years of helping make life beautiful.
