Dear Friends and Family, 

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly…and the Good.

The Good: Happy Pride! This weekend’s weather looks great for all the festivities. 

The Bad: I actually thought I was going to say something good about gun control but I live in New York and just this morning The Supreme Court struck down a New York law that placed strict limits on carrying guns outside the home, saying it was at odds with the Second Amendment. You can read more about this here. 

The Ugly: My thoughts. Some of you may know this, I am both gullible and extremely skeptical. In my mind I’m wondering, are the House Committee hearings on January 6th taking place right now to bring light to what actually happened or are they a distraction from the Supreme Court’s possibly overturning Roe v Wade? Or are they a distraction from the Russian Ukrainian War? Or are they a distraction from the recession? Then I also wonder if these hearings will make a difference? Will anyone’s mind be changed or do we all already believe what we believe to be true?

The Good: Over the last 6 years TADA! has been developing a new musical with female RYET members and Alumni now titled, Because We’re Girls. We hope to produce the World Premiere next season. The musical’s content is based on actual stories, thoughts, feelings from teenage girls. We thought we were done gathering the content and were now just putting all the scenes, songs, monologues, dances, poetry together. BUT THEN in May it was leaked that the Supreme Court is going to overturn Roe v. Wade and so we are adding to this musical. Our girls have a lot to say and they will be heard. Stay tuned for this amazing new musical next season!
